This fic is season 6. Don't remember many details but Buffy is estranged from Willow and Xander because of her growing feelings for Spike. Willow and Tara are already broken up and Giles is in England.

Buffy and Spike decide to get married at the courthouse, Tara and Anya help plan the celebration. Willow and Xander get wind and tell Giles. He rushes back to Sunnydale but they're to late and they can't stop the wedding. They all run into each other when the newly weds come out of the judge's chambers. They had wide smiles on their faces but Buffy's smile falls when she she sees Giles.

LOL, I've had this one sitting on my "To Read" list for years and just happened to finish reading it today, so that scene is incredibly fresh in my mind. Couldn't ask for better timing. It's a two part story and Spuffy's marriage in City Hall occurs in the sequel, Universal. Enjoy!
