Hi I'm looking for a fic i read many years ago ill try to remember as much as i can. I think Dawn accidently makes a wish which causes Buffy and Spike to change lives with each other (Buffy slayer/Dawn sister becomes Buffy the chipped vampire & Spike chipped vampire becomes Spike the slayer/ Dawn's brother).

I don't remember a lot but I know at first no one remembers that Buffy is meant to be the slayer and Spike the vampire but they do figure it out eventually, I also remember that human Spike starts to fall for vampire Buffy and when she is attacked by humans who steal her leather coat he is out raged. I remember that the guys that robbed Buffy come into the Magic box wearing her coat and Spike follows them I think with Xander, he gives them a beating takes the coat back and turns them into the cops.

I don't remember much more other then Spike and Xander have a heart to heart about Spike's feelings for Buffy after he hands over the robbers, Xander realises that Spike is in love with her and i think when Spike is beating on the robbers he say something about Buffy being his and no one is allowed to put there hands on her.

So sorry if this is vague or confusing but hopefully someone can help.

It sounds like SlayerIvy's Be Careful What You Wish For. It's at Sinister Attraction. And sadly, it's unfinished.

i think cordykitten has a list of fanfics with spike as the slayer... im not sure where it is but its appeared in fic recs before... i hate to be so vague but it might help

I know this story!! It's something like Dawn gets a ring (or Halfrek over hears her during her birthday) and makes a wish in passing and it switches Buffy and Spikes roles. Buffy is British and lives in the crypt and Spike is Dawn's brother and the slayer. I feel like Spike finds Buffy at the bar at the Bronze surrounded by guys and he tries to intervene. She gets attacked by humans behind the Bronze and goes to Spike and Dawns house and Dawn lets her stay, kinda helps fix her up. Spike comes home (fuming?) and sees Buffy sleeping on the couch.

Is this ringing any bells? Am I thinking of the same story?

I feel like it was called something like Careful What you Wish for, or In Her Shoes or something like that. I thought maybe it was by Laniew, but she doesn't have much left of her stories since geocities went kaput.
