I only know of a similar story where Spike rescued Angel and dusted (but not by staking). It's called "A Man's Worth" by Urizen. It can be found on fanfiction.net.

Thanks for the link. But that's not it. Timeline does not fit. That elusive story would have to be finished before 2004. See cordykitten's link to the earlier thread. Um, and now I think I am violating the rules by introducing another fic.

If it's a different fic you're seeking just make a new thread for it. That keeps things organized and less confused.
