Buffy and the gang are living overseas. She's not interested in Angel, but well he's Angel and doesn't accept that.

Not sure how, but he somehow hears rumors of Spike and finds him, human, and hiding in an abandoned house somewhere in the US. When he can't convince him to leave he heads back to Buffy.

Spike eventually decides Angel is right *gasp* and goes to find Buffy only to get attacked by a vamp and turned. I think Angel finds out about it, but thinks he's dead.

When Spike "rises" he's not a vamp after all and can walk in daylight.

The oracles or a prophecy may be involved.

I just read this one and loved it!

I've read this story and it was great to re-read it, but it isn't the one I was thinking of. I'll keep thinking on it and see if I can remember any new details.
