There was a story that I read a couple of years ago where Buffy is a witch and her father Hank is a powerful warlock who hires Spike to be their bodyguard. The first scene in the story has everyone at a party that Hank is throwing at his mansion and then Buffy freezes everyone but Spike and her father when a war is about to break out at the party.
