This is a vampire Spike not a human fic.

I remember that it was either Buffy or Wilow who is the other part of the pair. I really think it was Buffy (hence my asking here), 95% sure it was Buffy. Spike lived with a woman underground in a kind of human society that was hiding due to the apocalyptic world above being dangerous to humans. Buffy(?) was quietly upset that Spike was living with this woman and not free to be with her, and she was also feeling very out of place. I don't know why she was there but it was perhaps going through Glory's portal to the future or something. Angel was there also.

Does this ring any bells? I'd really like to find it again. Thanks.

That totally fits the description but iit's not it. It isn't another dimension and there is no concurrent world story in the one I'm thinking about. It's more of a future fic kind of deal, Buffy propelled into a future. And I don't think Tara was the other woman.

There's a post-season 7 fic that sounds like this. The memory is hazy, so I'm not sure if this is entirely accurate, but I think it goes something like ... Buffy can't get over the loss of Spike, so Willow uses magic to send Buffy to another reality where Spike still lives. She finds herself in a world where their Buffy is gone/dead/enslaved and vampires (?) have taken over. Spike is part of an underground coalition of humans and vampires, and he's shacked up with another woman. Buffy shows up and chaos ensues. I can't for the life of me find this story of which I speak, but it's definitely post-series and involved Willow sending Buffy to another dimension/reality.

I don't recall the Willow involvement but it is entirely possible, it's been a long time. The underground human/vampire society and Spike living with another woman is dead on though. I hope I find it. Thanks for responding, and if you can remember anything like even an approximation of a title or author name I can work with that.

Could it be "An Alternate Attraction" by PJ? It does have some of the same items in the story but not all of them. Actually the only things similiar is Buffy is sent to a different place where the entire gang of scoobies, including herself, are vampires and are fighting evil humans and Spike is with another woman. You can find it here at Spuffy Realm.

I read a fic that has similar sounding events in it, I think the title had Time in it somewhere. Buffy was dating the Immortal and lived at his house, there was a room with clocks all showing different times and timelines and Buffy (who had never been in the room cos the Immortal always kept it locked) got dragged into one where she found Spike living with Tara (I think) they are hiding out in the hellmouth and I think that the big bad was Adam and the initiative. Hope this helps.

Could you be thinking of Brave New World by JamesMFan ? It's here on this site. It says unfinished but I think it really is. Buffy goes through a portal during S.7 Get it Done to get information and when she returns she find everything and everyone changed.

No, it's not any of those. Those are great fics and I liked reading them but the one I am thinking about is more of an apocalyptic world fic. Buffy comes out of her own 'world' and into a future where the survivors literally live underground in a maze of caverns. They also have weapons that they name and that have magical qualities. You know, special swords is as close as I can think to describe the weapons, and they are very important to the person who owns them.

This is so frustrating because I know I have the story on my computer but it's from so long ago that it has to be an appleworks version and none of those are on my master list, they are only sorted by author name and there are hundreds of authors in my fanfiction system. I may have to simply set aside some time and tediously go through each author folder and see if any fic names pop out at me. If that sounds boring and dreary, it will be. Sigh.
