There's a Xander/Buffy one by Alex Bourbon there also, but that's not the one you are talking about. The one you are talking about has the whole gang... Let me look around. But it is on ff.net so if you did a search you would find it eventually on there.

Definitely not xander/buffy....and I did try a ffnet search and came up empty...I know I read it on a separate site that at the time had a black background and aqua or purple text if that helps (oh the details I remember)

I know. I was trying to suppress that in my own mind because I'm so frustrated and also because I cannot believe there are this many 'ancient Rome time travel' Buffy fics out there. But there is a really long one and I suspected that this one wasn't it but I hoped... sigh. I'll keep looking. I know it's on my computer. I know it's here somewhere. Argh!
