I'm looking for fics that have Spike and Buffy both in love with each other (for most of the time, if not all), but the other one doesn't know and there's lots of awkwardness and many misunderstandings because of it. Oh, and no all-human, please, just canon (or canon AU), and I do like a happy ending.

Hm, difficult, canon Spike isn't exactly known for hiding his feelings.

I guess Baby Steps by Kallysten would have been exactly what you're looking for.
It goes AU at the beginning of S6, Spike leaves since Buffy actually starts dating Richard and comes back after a while. Richard's gone by then, leaving Buffy to raise her baby daughter on her own. Spike moves in to help after saying he doesn't love her anymore (yeah, right, but Buffy believes him) She falls in love with him too, but neither of them has the courage to tell for a very, very long time. Awkwardness and Misunderstandings guaranteed.
It's one of my favorite fics.

Sadly it's an original novel now and no longer available online and Kallysten has requested not to pass it around. You could always get the book. Don't know if you're interested in that or how different it is. Or maybe you could contact Kallysten and see if she still has a Spuffy version and is willing to make a deal of some sort.

Funny, rereading Baby Steps was what prompted this request! I love that fic so much and was hoping for something else with that level of awkwardness.
