Buffy is Own Person

I'm in the process of writing my first fic and I need a break. Someone entertain me with a good Spuffy fic in which Buffy is finally fed up and her own person that doesn't care what her so called friends think. I could do with a good character bashing for anyone that's not Spike or Buffy too. However, the only catch is I'm not a season 7 fan and I've read everything Maryperk has ever written.

The beginning of the Baby Series by Mrs Muir has Buffy fed up and waitressing in a dive bar in Sunnydale. She is estranged from Giles and her friends and Giles has taken custody of Dawn from her. Then Spike shows up.... It's a really long series, definitely pre-season seven (starts in season six and just completely veers off and never goes into season seven) . Eventually things get better between the old friends but there's a good long stretch of animosity there in the first story in the series.

Summary: Series of four epic fics covering the Babyverse. Spike is called away by Drusilla before he can meet Buffy at the Bronze in Tabula Rasa. He doesn't return to Sunnydale until after the fiasco of Xander and Anya's wedding. Things aren't the same as when he left town...especially Buffy.

Also if you go to Bloodshedbaby's own website www (dot) bringonthebloodshed (dot) com / bloodshedbaby / (not a member so I can't post actual links) you can find Dreams and Desotos, Stranded, and Blood Warms the Heart. She has several good fics there that are older and they fit your criteria.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but in the Unexpected Universe, Buffy stands up to her friends/family very early (instead of running away and becoming Anne in LA after Becoming, she runs to Spike, who doesn't leave after defeating Angelus/Angel). Spike isn't completely accepted until later (esp by Xander), but Buffy sticks to her heart, which is pulling her towards Spike...

Check out The Ghost in You by BuffyMeetsSpike over on Bloodshedverse. The sequel, Universal, is more about reconciliation but still an excellent example of Buffy sticking to her guns.

She's a fairly new author, but seriously good.

Oh I really liked The Ghost in You but I don't think I've read the sequel.
