I have several that sort of fit that description: Wind Beneath my Wings (Angel-bashing takes place - figuratively and literally), Frail (dying Buffy hangs on for the real love of her life), and Redemption Redux (which is really Spuffy by implication-she's with Angel only because she thinks Spike is dead and when Angel realizes she's in mourning, he does the right thing). In all of these, Buffy is aware that she's in love with Spike, but thinks she can't have him for one reason or another - so, she hasn't actually chosen Angel, so much as gone with him by default. |
