I'm sorry but I don't remember much of this fic -I really want to find it tho because it really pulled on my heartstrings.

I'm not sure if it was a series, or a long-ish fic that had a sequel.
There was one scene in it that I vividly remember - where Buffy goes to Spike's house (maybe they have been apart for a while, or maybe she had been hiding her feelings from herself, and finally given in) but when she gets there - she notices that he's moved out. And she just smiles and she whispers something like "thank-you, Spike" and it's really bitter-sweet.

I don't know if that was the end scene and there's a sequel, or if that happened earlier on in the fic.

If anyone knows what I'm taking about I'd really appreciate a nod in the right direction!

I finally found it! It was from the end of Kaz's "Getting Pumped" from the Illumanati series. The greatest Spuffy fic/series I have ever read in my life - I can't believe I couldn't remember it.

For anyone interested, this is the exchange I was talking about:

"Finally, she couldn't take it any longer. She went there. As she rounded the corner onto his street her eyes immediately fixed on his house.....and her heart stopped. It not only stopped, it died right there in her chest.

The house was deserted. Bare. In the front yard stood the barest grave stone of all.

The sign said "For Rent."

Her car slowed to a halt in front of the deserted house. For several moments she just stared, then a small smile began to play at the corners of mouth and she nodded in understanding.

"Thank you Spike" she whispered into the night, just before she drove off.

.......From a distance, Spike watched as her car traveled up the street and turned the corner. "You're Welcome Slayer." he said quietly."
