Okay, Spuffy peeps, I'm intrigued by the success of 50 shades of grey--the Twilight fanfic that got turned into Original fiction and published. I'm not a Twilight fan and therefore not a twilight fanfic fan. But I'm interested in reading fanfiction that has made the transition. I want your recs for authors/stories that have been turned and where I can find them. Totally willing to e-mail authors and request the Buffy version of stories and also read the original version of stories. Also interested in any that have been published. Let me know who has info on this so I can special message you/e-mail you.

Actually, I would be! I'm in support of people who get published. There are many reasons I enjoy fanfiction--they don't have to play it safe, the can be edgier, and still have an audience, etc. I bought Shades of Gray out of rampant curiosity to see if it compared so some of my absolute fave Buffy fics. Barely into it, so the jury's still out, but it got me wondering about buffy fic. I understand that some stories are taken down and shouldn't be passed around and I respect that. I'm just asking around for people willing to talk about what they've written/what they changed/if they got published, etc. Would love to read a Buffy version and then an original version.

Whatever people are willing to talk about.

Awesome--totally what I was looking for.

Side note: three chapters into shades of grey and I can totally see through the veil to the twilight connection and I'm bored to tears. Just read an excerpt from Mad World (which I've read the spuffy version of and loved) and that excerpt was absolutely stunning and can't even compare. Go spuffy writers. Seriously. Awesome. Writing.

Also check the 'Do Not Exchange these Fics ' forum - often the reason they cannot be shared is they were turned into original fiction. If you email the author, some are willing to share the spuffy version, however. I know Holly said she would share hers and her email is listed in there.
