I would like some recommendations for fics where Joyce is really mean. The nastier the better!

Well, she's not in my fic a lot but when she is, she is not a nice person. I think out of eighty chapters so far she is in four of them at most. She is planned to be in more of them although those aren't posted yet and she is never a major player in my story. The first chapter, the second or third chapter in a flashback, the First Christmas chapter, the Mother's Day chapter, one of the second year's Christmas chapters, and one other chapter that I recall.

Niamh - Baby Love is a great story and yes, Joyce is definitely not mother of the year in that one either.

And despite her canonization after dying, Joyce was not a very good parent.

As for posting -- you can when you can. Health comes first.

You know, that was one of the hallmarks of BtVS - none of the parents were good parents. They were poor parents in different ways, and Joyce was by no means the worst of the bunch, but they were all children of fairly dysfunctional families. That was one of the things that endeared the show to me - high school kids, left to their own devices, trying to survive and perhaps even thrive, on an open hellmouth.

No, Joyce was not a great mother actually. But she was probably the best of the mothers out of all the kids, so I guess that's why she was looked upon more favorably than I personally think she should have been.

And in fanfiction, I love me some Mean Joyce.

It is a recurring theme. Bad parenting. It's scary to think that of all the parents portrayed in the shows Angel and Cordelia actually come out ahead.

I love mean Joyce also.

Been Here Too Few Years by Addie Logan. One of my faves! Joyce eventually redeems herself I think, but she's terrible for the first half.

I'm pimping my own fic here, but in Final Requests, Joyce is as about as hateful as they come. I have to write the epilogue, and I'm deciding whether to redeem her. You can find it here and at EF.
