Revised Season 4 w/ Initiative vampire soldiers

I'm reading a Season 4 fiction with a different spin on the Initiative. It got me thinking of another fiction I read awhile ago with an altered Initiative that I can't remember the name or author. I believe Buffy gets captured (I think by Adam). A big rescue mission gets prepared. I remember a scene in a big underground garage of the Initiative with many jeeps/humVs; Giles helps advise the rescue mission and Spike leads a team of soldiers to save Buffy & destroy Adam. In the fiction, the Initiative had also vamped soldiers (which I think not everyone agreed with hence why they turned to Giles & the Scoobie gang). After she's rescued, Spike helps the Initiative with their vamped soldiers and goes to another facility to train them. He does come back to Sunnydale & Buffy, afterall it is a Spuffy fiction. Does this spark anyone else's memory?

Was there a lake? I may be remembering a different fiction and I'm not sure -- but in the one I'm thinking of there is a lake and I think Ethan Rayne has involvement as well.

I forget if there is a lake or not, but Ethan Rayne might have been in it. What context is the lake used? Is it where the base is that Spike goes to train the vamped soldiers?

A setting that really stands out to me is that huge Initaitve garage with all the hummers where everyone is mobalizing for their mission.

Do you recall the title & author of the fiction you're thinking of so I can take a look?

I don't think Spike had a soul, nor it taking place in season 7, nor it being a 5 part series (maybe 2 parts with 1 being the mission of the combined Scoobies & Initiative to defeat the big bad and the other being Spike training the vamped soldiers). It was awhile ago though that I read what I'm trying to remember.

Does the Voiceverse have vamped soldiers which Spike goes to help train for the military? If so could you point out which part is it in? I ask because I'd like to get back to you more quickly if this is the fiction I'm trying to remember and it would take awhile to read all of the 7 parts to confirm.

The lake is where the underground facility is - where they train. It's part of an enormous estate I recall. Ethan had something to do with it and was, of course, evil. Not vamp, just Ethan mastermind evil. I can't recall if Spike was there intentionally to train vamp soldiers or if he was forced there to train with them, but there was training. And Buffy found him but could not take him away from there I think due to some tracking device on him so the furthest they could go at that time was the far side of the lake. And that's what I remember. If this sounds like the story I'll try to figure out which one it was. It's been a few years since I read it.

Page 6 of Reminders is when he gets the offer to train the Vampires. It then goes into more detail in the next part "Shepard" which is only one page. The Vampires are people that have been turned that were sick and would have died otherwise



I also just read another story and I am wracking my brain for the name where Spike is recaptured by the Initiative, which has been retooled and is being headed up by a woman General. Spike is being forced to turn people and create a vampire army for her and he trains them. Buffy rejoins the Initiative to rescue him after she comes across one of the vamps he turned that escaped (I think he is Darian) Also Reilly is still part of the Initative and has Spike turn a girl that looks like Buffy that he rapes over and over.

I may be completely off base here, but this reminds me of a Twiight Child/Dreams of Spike thing. Perhaps "The Worst Betrayal"?

No, The Worst Betrayal was a slave ring fic. It was a good fic but it's not an Initiative fic and it's not the one with the soldiers and the lake. I wish I could remember the one I am thinking of.... So frustrating.

I realize now that the story I was thinking about cannot be an Initiative story because the training center is in Britain. And there can't be an Initiative in Britain, at least not the American one so I think it is a different story.

So I am going to start a new thread asking for help finding that other story since now I'm really curious what story I was reading. So... see the other thread for (hopefully) responses to that one.

Found the one I was seeking. It's in the other thread I started for it. It was The Last Storm by dreamsofspike and it's at Just Rewards. Yay!

Sorry it took me a bit to reply. I wound up re-reading the entire Voiceverse series to verify what I remembered. It is a really good storyline & well written. Too bad the last part is WIP.

It appears I was mixing up 2 different fictions in my search. Voiceverse is definitely the one where Spike goes away to train vamped soldiers from the Initiative.

So I'm still looking for a fiction where the Scoobies & Initiative join forces to defeat the big bad/save Buffy. As I said, Giles has a major role throughout the fiction (not the short appearance in the Voiceverse) where he winds up advising the soldiers, as does Spike leading a team himself. The scenes that stand out in my memory is the big Initiative garage with all the humVs & Giles coordinating efforts there. I'm pretty sure it's season 4 also. Should I start a new search for it?

PS: I've read The Right Thing by dreamsofspike. Good fic as well.
