It sounds like the Lord and the Lady by Gillypod but I also don't remember a spell exactly. Although Dru may have cast a spell over Spike, she was quite crazy and evil in it. I'm not sure. It is an historical period piece though, Regency period. Was the fic you are seeking set in Regency England?
