Spike is a major criminal + a master painting forger, Buffy is undervocer in his giant mansion.

Hi guys.
I'm looking for a fic a read long ago. I don't remember very much about it aside from liking it. And that it was VERY long. Buffy is an undercover agent of some sort. Spike is maybe the head of a major crime family? I don't remember. All I know is that it appears that he's a really bad buy. Buffy infiltrates in the form of his girlfriend maybe? And there is a touching scene somewhere in there where he shows her all of his masterfully forged paintings of great masters' works.

I'm pretty sure i've read all three of these (i've been an avid spuffy reader since 2003) so it will take me quite a bit of reading before I can figure out which one is the one i'm talking about. But i'll be sure to let you know if any of these are it!

Actually, my brain just caught up!! If Spike is definitely a forger then it can't be Criminal Games, in that he is just an art thief and although there is a lovely scene where they are looking at a Monet in his dining room and discussing it (Buffy prefers one of his later garden pictures that is housed in Paris she has never seen if that rings any bells), it is just an original painting he has up and isn't forged.

All I can remember of Crystal there isn't any art related crime and Spike is just a businessman for the 'Angelus' family when Buffy and Gunn go undercover at his mansion, so no forging in that one either.

I haven't read Girl With Stars so I don't know about that.

Spike forges paintings in Girl With Stars so I think that is probably the story you're looking for then.
