OMG I am so glad I'm not the only person who never heard that phrase. I had to look it up and it turns out that I always called them the Fanged Four or the Scourge of Europe. http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/The_Whirlwind

Thank you Peyton. I've never heard them called anything other than the Scourge of Europe on the show, and the Fanged Four in fanfiction. I don't think I like 'The Whirlwind' appellation at all. Scourge is good enough for me.

I think it's an obscure and very severe stretch from a throwaway line of Darla's if that wiki articile is to be believed. Never in sixteen years have I heard a single soul/writer refer to them that way. And I kind of hate the term. Oh well, at least now I know what the heck the original poster was talking about. I had no idea.
