Found: Sex and Candy series by Sweetprincipale

Ok. So there is some fic out there somewhere where Dawn sacrifices herself by using the Dagon Sphere, which is cut in half, to stop Glory. She later comes to Buffy in a dream, which is also the night she is conceived by Spike and Buffy. I also remember Riley and Sam being involved and that their the reason this all happened.

Okay, so I've thought about this some more and I found that I don't really know if this fic is set in Season Five. It seems like it would be, but to be honest, I don't really remember the timeline. But I did remember that the showdown with Glory happens at the magic box, and that there is something that the initiative found (which is where I started doubting the timeline) that explodes and kills everyone, including Sam, and Riley follows 'it' across Sunnydale and to the magic box.

There is one story that has the Dagon Sphere being opened and used to banish Glory but Dawn doesn't die. It's the Sex and Candy series by Sweetprincipale. You can find that one on FF dot net. It fits almost every thing you have listed except for Sam and Riley. Riley has already left town by then. And Sam is never mentioned.

I guess I'm getting my wires seriously crossed with a different story where Dawn dies and comes to Buffy in a dream the night she is conceived by Spike and Buffy which is the same night that she died. You can see how a person can get confused.
