Spike is the vampire the coucil chooses for Buffy's cruciamentum

Anybody remember this one? Buffy gets locked in the abandoned house used by the council for Buffy's cruciamentum, and the vampire she's to defeat without her Slayer powers is Spike instead of Kralick (spelled right?) They become close, and eventually a couple. They even get locked in the same room, inadvertently when Spike sets up a romantic rendezvous in the same room the following year.

I think you are after the EXCELLENT Yellow Brick Road series by Holly. One of my top, top faves.

Ah, I see. I contacted Holly when I first started reading fanfic because the copy of L'Amour I was reading stopped on a tbc and she directed me to Just Rewards for the complete version. That site is down now but I, just to be super-duper sure(!), looked at the listing through Wayback (even though the fic link is broken the author list is still viewable for Holly). That lists L'Amour as complete at chapter 18 and that is where the link above finishes and it matches my saved copy. It is definitely complete.

I hope you like them, I adore that trilogy.
