I've been looking for this fic for 12 hours now and it's driving me crazy. It's an older fic. I don't remember exactly what season it's set in, but it's pre-soul and post Spike moving into his crypt in Restfield.

In the fic someone casts a spell on Buffy and she turns into a pre Season 1 version of herself. Having never met him, she hasn't fallen in love with Angel yet, but she does become infatuated with Spike and follows him around trying to get him to love her back. As soon as she succeeds the spell breaks and Spike ends up heartbroken. I think there's claiming involved and they have to wait for it to wear off so Spike leaves town for a while. It's NOT the fic where younger Buffy makes a wish and switches bodies with older Buffy (although if someone can remember the title and author of that fic I'd appreciate it as well). It's definitely a spell temporarily making her forget her Slayer years.

Help? This is driving me nuts because they were both favorites of mine several years ago and yet I can't remember the title or author of either one, I just know I'll recognize them when I see them.

That description rings a bell. I can't remember title or author (naturally) but if I'm thinking of the same story, it's after Buffy is resurrected and is so depressed and unhappy. Willow decides to 'help' her by cheering her up and bespells her to be all like the happy perky Buffy they met in S1 and of course the spell goes wrong...

I wouldn't mind reading that one again myself, if anybody remembers the title...

I also remember the switching bodies fic you mentioned, but of course I can't remember what that one was called either....

There's elements of what you describe in Addie Logan's Just a Teenage Crush, but I'm not sure about Spike leaving town.
