Spike's Soul Trapped in Amulet

I'm looking for a fic in which Buffy either removes the amulet from Spike's neck or is somehow able to get him out before he burns in the final battle. Sunnydale is only half destroyed and the survivors resume residence at Revello Drive. Spike's soul is torn from him in the battle. Buffy and Spike go to LA to have Angel's team look into the amulet. Naturally, Angel is upset about Buffy and Spike's relationship. Eventually, it is discovered Spike's soul is trapped in the amulet.

One quirky thing I remember is Spike eats some very old Mac & Cheese. Buffy will not let him kiss her after that, so he takes some mouthwash and swallows it, not knowing how to "properly" use mouthwash.

Uh, it's not this series is it? Translation Needed Series It's been awhile since I read it, and it's a WIP. The first one is finished.

Don't know why but this was the first thing that came to mind reading that. I think there might be another one I read like this, but I could swear I read it on BS Diaries (which still haven't heard if it's coming back or not).

I know it wasn't a series--just a story with a few chapters on how Buffy learned to accept Spike for who he was, whether he had a soul or not. Between Willow and Wesley, they finally found a spell that would free the soul from the amulet and return it to Spike. Spike wasn't sure he wanted it back as he felt it sort of put a damper on his ability to fully enjoy life, but he left the decision of restoring it to Buffy in the end, and that is how it ended (sorta like those books that let you choose the ending, lol). Thanks for looking, though!
