I think thats is a Sqwauks story that was unfinished? It sounds like the one I was looking for too

It's "Median Split" by Squawks.
It's not online anymore and unfinished. But you could send her an email, as far as I know she would send it to you since she is planning to finish and post her stories again.
But I also got it on my laptop.
There is also another threat about this story in the fic exchange forum if you want to look it up.
