I've never heard of the story with that name, but i know a different one that fits the search parameters. It was written in several parts though. The first part was called "Welcome to the Jungle", followed by "The Dance," "The Shadows Breathe," "Nothing Else Matters," "Journey to the Mind," "Conversation Kills," and finally, an epilogue.
In the first one, Buffy wakes up in a crate, on a jungle island. Beside her, in another crate, is Spike. They've been paired up to compete in a game. The welcome letter starts with they lyrics for "Welcome to the Jungle." The team competes against other (very aggressive) teams and whichever team gets to the goal first wins, and gets to live.
In the second challenge, they're kidnapped and again released into a hostile environment...second one is a cave, I think. No other teams that time, but they have to survive and find a way out.
Third time is a house that's rigged with puzzles and things that they have to solve to get out. Angel and Willow are with them for that challenge, and they develop a romantic relationship.
Fourth challenge requires a whole team of players, and is played on a giant chess set. If your piece is taken, you die.
I wish I could give you the author, but I'm terrible with names. It was a fantastic story though...definitely one of my favorites, even after all these years. As far as I know, it was just called the Game series.
Hope that helps. |
