I've just read Hero Trip by Jim Wicked (sadly unfinished) and am in the mood for more along those lines; fics where Spike is either kind of crazy or where he really is the Big Bad and not just a growling fluffy puppy. Pretty much the kind of fic where you really don't know if he can be be trusted or if you should hate him or not. Anyway, I'm hoping for some recs of longer, completed fics, if anyone can come up with some good ones. Oh, and despite the fact that I'm looking for fics with a slightly darker-than-usual Spike, I definitely don't have a problem with happy endings.

Most of the stories I rec'd are evil or pre-chipped Spike. The only one with crazy Spike is NORMAL AGAIN.

I'm not sure if these stories fit what you're looking for but I think you'll love them anyway. They are painful to read and they are long.

Spike didn't come back after he left at the end of season 6. He is newly souled in this story and he is trying to punish himself for his sin of hurting Buffy. Kinda crazy.
