Detective Spike protecting a deaf Buffy

I'm looking for an all human fic I read a long time ago. I believe Spike is a detective, or some type of police officer/FBI that is protecting Buffy, who is deaf, from some bad guys. If I remember correctly, Buffy witnessed a crime (murder?), I think by some crime boss type. Spike has to stay at her house and there is also a police car outside her house at all times. I know it was very long and I also know that one of the police officers watching the house, Riley I think, turns out to be obssessed w/Buffy.

Does anyone know this fic?
