Hello, I just read a Spuffy story that sort of had a Pride and Prejudice theme, but it had an unhappy ending which was not appropriate to that particular story, and I found it a bit of a downer. So now I am wondering if anyone has written a Spuffy version of Pride and Prejudice, which ends as it should, happily. Does such a thing exist? It can be all human or else vampire/slayer, but I'd love it if the story had parallels to the novel. If no such fic exists, any Spuffy story which is a reworking of any classic novel or literary work would also be very welcome.

Ripe Wicked Plum has one, titled Pride and Prejudice. I can't remember the ending, but I think it's a happy one.

ETA: Oooops! Sorry, all. Like I said, I didn't remember the ending. Consensus seems to be that it's *not* happy at all!

I can't think of any others based on classic novels, unless "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" counts -- Authoressnebula has one, "Dawnie and the Chocolate Factory" (I'm not sure where, though).

Nope, it really, really isn't.

Everytime I even think of this story by RWP I relive the trauma caused by how it ended. It is such a wonderful story but then suddenly there's that sad, heartbreakingly, tragic ending.

Yes, I agree that it was a terrible disappointment, and the author's warning was simply inadequate. I felt so betrayed after reading it that I have never read another story of hers nor would I recommend her to anyone. It was pure despicable manipulation, especially given that she used a well-known novel as the basis for the plot, like false advertising.

So does no one have any suggestions for a P & P-based Spuffy fic? I didn't really start this thread to discuss a fic that doesn't meet my criteria for a happy ending.

Or if this discussion is happening because there are no P & P-based Spuffy fics, as I said above, I would welcome any Spuffy fic based around the plot of a classic novel or other literary work.

Funny to hear about your reaction to the RWP's story. I had the exact same reaction to the story's ending and also never read another story by her. I guess she was looking to write a story with a "twist" but I just felt sick when I read the ending. Author warnings are very important--I certainly read and appreciate them.

It's not finished but RWP's fic Castaway is a wonderful story - it truly makes up for the trauma caused by P&P.

Yes it does! Castaway is truly wonderful and one of my favorites. I wish RWP would complete it.

I just...didn't get the point of that ending. It was like a quick finale so the fic wouldn't be a permanent WIP. Personally, I would have preferred a wonderful WIP like Castaways than that finish.

Pride and Prejudice, Spuffy style right here:

I haven't read it, but it seems to be Spuffy from the intro...

There's one called Tempesta Di Amore by Holly which is a Spuffy version of Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca.

RWP is a good author but she doesn't give adequate warnings; pride and prejudice could have ended soon and been seen as complete. The ending was a disappointment and she doesn't tell if her fics are spuffy or not! Very disappionting due to the fact that her intros don't start fast so you are halfway in the fic before you figure out it is about Spike and this girl named Andy!

Can anyone tell me where I should stop reading P&P? I started it and really like it but want to pull out before the trauma lol. Just skip the last couple chapters? Thanks!
