How about we have an unofficial rule that no one can criticize someone else's spelling in requests unless they include an effort to answer the request at the same time? I'm a big spelling nazi too, but I hate seeing folks -- a number of whom are not English speakers as a primary language from what I'm seeing on my emails -- made to feel less than because they made a typo or didn't get a word just right. Just my opinion, of course.

It was the second time this 'guest' had done this that day -- just posted to correct someone's spelling without offering any help with the request at all. And as both Klara and I pointed out, there are a lot of posters here who are using English as a second language as well. Yes, the 'guest' was 'only pointing out the difference' but it was an unasked for correction that weighted more in the offensive and off-putting column than in the sincerely helpful column. And corrections like that, in a forum like this, tend to stifle people from posting for fear of being criticized for their word usage or spelling. I love spelling, it's important to me. But not as important as making people feel welcome and encouraged to participate. And that is the last thing I'm saying about this. Thanks.

First let me clarify that I am not a mod (though I support my mods 100%) I'm the 'owner' and in that lies my right to say whatever I like and if you or anyone else doesn't like it feel free to not come here, it's really as simple as that.

Secondly, though normally I would not explain my actions because, going back to my first point I am the 'owner' and I don't have to, but I will. This forum is where Spuffy fans can come and seek out assistance for finding Spuffy fics. No one is here seeking assistance with etiquette in spelling and grammar, that's what beta forums are for.

There is absolutely no reason for someone to come here 'just' to point out such a thing unless to be insolent, in which the first 'guest' succeed. All such an act will do it rile up others, as it has, and cause to distract from the main purpose of this thread. So here we are several posts in and the majority of the posts have not been on topic, which I really don't like and is in fact breaking rule no#5, which states:

"Please 'always' be respectful. If someone has posted a query try to help them but don't post about some 'other' fic or topic in the thread, that has no relevance to the original posters query. Basically, stay on topic."

So I say again, if you don't know the fic a poster is seeking, and you really have nothing relevant to say in regards to said fic, shut the FUCK up and move along. Now I'm going to go through and delete all the off topic posts , except mine & my mod's, just another perk of being the owner and hopefully we can get back on topic and not have further discussion on this.
