I've always wondered about Buffy ending up broke in season 6 (Flooded). I understand how that can happen with the hospital bills and whatnot, but my issue is that if the money was out and there was a possibility that Buffy didn't come back how were the girls expecting to take care of the house and Dawn? This is mainly because I never see Tara or Willow at a paying job yet they live at Buffy's without ever asking her if they can and I'm assuming no rent is being paid. Sorry this is long winded but are there any fics out there that address this subject? Obviously it would have Spuffy at the forefront, possibly with him helping with monitary support or just being boyfriend-ish. Many hugs and kisses to anyone who can dig something up! This has always bugged me too. I would like to see a fic or two (Spuffy obviously) where Buffy calls Willow and Tara on where all the money her mother left has gone. I can't believe they used it up so quickly even with hospital bills. Joyce had life insurance, savings, and there would have been money from the gallery, surely. Some of that money should have been invested for Dawn's future at the very least. The Scoobies were clearly irresponsible about it.

See, my theory is that they always thought she would come back. Willow never believed her spell wouldn't work, she probably just assumed that Buffy would handle everything and that is what irritates me. I would have at least expected more from Tara, but there is just so much I hated about the 6th season.

I don't see why Willow and Tara wouldn't have contributed. There's no way that Buffy was supporting a household, paying a mortgage, and taking care of gas, electricity, etc. with just Doublemeat Palace wages. Most likely, Willow's absentee parents were paying her way in rent, etc., but rent isn't enough for an entire house, and that's why Buffy had to get a job. It wouldn't be fair if Buffy didn't pay anything when her roommates were contributing from their own savings/college funds/parents' funds, and Buffy was just the unfortunate one who didn't have any of the above. :/

I can't think of any fics that deal with this exclusively, but most S6 long!fics touch on this issue.

That's my thinking too and I wanted someone to call them out for it. The most irritating part to me was that they all just assume they live there and never help out in any way. And it's all about Dawn's future, not Buffy's. I need S6 fic to help Buffy grow a set and say what's up!

Always wondered what Tara was doing for money. Willow's parents I could see supporting her and paying her tuition, but no way was Tara's father paying for her to attend college. What was it, did she have a full scholarship and a trust fund her family didn't know about?
