Post AtS, Spike Shanshus and is paralysed in a fight with a demon. Angel sends him to a rehabilatation centre where he can learn to cope with his new disability but Spike becomes very depressed and no longer wants to live. He hasn't contacted Buffy as he feels she couldn't love him like this, unknown to him, Angel's already called her and shes living at the centre, visiting him as he sleeps. After she stops him commiting suicide, they get together and begin his long road to recovery (a Shanshu bonus).
