Nice one-shot! Love that Spike didn't just give up but wasn't as forceful as in canon. He really coaxed Buffy into doing what she wanted rather than what she thought was right. The Buffy basking was a perfect way to end this!

Summary: The story is set in S5, with a twist. There's no Glory, Joyce doesn't die and Dawn's not a key. Spike has info on a new baddie in town, gunning for Buffy (of course). Having Spike around it messing with Buffy's head and her friends are not helping! And to answer a friend's question, NO I will NOT be killing Joyce. I wasn't sure after the first chapter how I felt about this fic but this chapter was great! I really love the Joyce/Dawn love for Spike!
Author's Response: thanx!! like i said i'm still working it out. i just remember seeing scenes of Spike and Joyce talking and one time she was in his crypt and i just improvised. and of course, Dawn loved Spike so that was a given....until she threatened to set him on fire.....but i'm just gonna pretend that that was a bad dream or something. i'll try to post something again soon but kind of lost the mood after hearing about Heath's death today. i'll try again tomorrow.

I always love to praise writers who can make me cry because of the beautiful way they write rather than terrible events! Yes, Buffy's death is sad but the picture you painted of life after her death was what got to me. I cannot wait until you get to the happy ending to see if you make me cry happy tears as well as you did the sad ones!

More tears? How do you do it? Maybe I'm just emotional but I suspect it has more to do with your writing! Love how Buffy opened up to Spike and solidified his place in her life. Her sadness at the idea of Spike not going to heaven and her resolve to believe otherwise were beautiful. Absolutely adore this fic!
