When I've added an author (at another site) to my favorites I'll get one email that this author had posted a new story. (After that you've to add the story to your favorites to get another update). Maybe someone would like it here too?
I like the Vara's idea for the story searching - sometimes the chat box is so busy that it gets overlooked.

my idea was a page that we can post to...looking for a story, where the poster could give details of a tale they wanted to read and others could then tell them what it is and where to find it. we do this often on the chat box but sometimes its very busy and the request gets missed or its very quiet and no-one is around to help

Ok I understand Jamies and Cordy and since SatinVampires's suggestions kind of ties in with yours, then I"ll reply to all by saying we did have a forum, several in fact, the porblem was absolutely not one save a hand full *no more than 4 or 5* members actually used it. It took up a lot of wasted space, so I would remove it and then a member would ask me to put it back I would, and again no one used it. I will set up another one, and hopefully you lot will actually use it this time. Please note that I will most likely 'not' integrate/merge it with the site's database. It can be done the hard way *me recoding the forum's database tables to match the site's database tables* or much like it is on BSV their version of Efiction had a mod 'but' it's works 'ONLY' if you create the forum 'first' and then the archive, and then use the forums registration/login features. That won't work in our case since we already have an actively large archive with so many members. Again it's not impossible to do just very hard. I will attempt it this weekend just to try to make the transition easier on you guys. However if it becomes too difficult you'll just have to register an account on the forum. Also we do have a Livejournal that can be used to ask about stories, then again it's the same problem as the forum, no one ever uses it :)
xaphania, to address your issues, the 'remember me' box it's intended to keep you logged into the site, it's intent is to store you info in the login page so when you visit you don't have to re-enter it, just hit submit. So it works the way it's suppose to. I personally don't like the idea of ppl being logged is even when they're not actually on the site. I'm currently research how this effects the running of the site. As for your broswer I use the site on Chrome, Firefox, and IE it never crashes on any for me. I really can't fix the browser issue other than advise trying a different browser *I'm currently jonesing on Google Chrome, myself*
