:whimpers:
I didn't know that's where you were going... perhaps I should have. God, what an ending scene... rip our still beating hearts out, why dontcha. I'm glad I read this all in a couple days, or I think it would have hit me even harder losing this Buffy. But it still hurts. Poor girl...

Suicide and peaceful are not synonyms and it honestly nauseates me that it's even described that way.

That was a very sad ending, but it was true to the way you've been writing this story. The intensity of the emotions experienced by the Buffy could only end in this way. It was a beautiful story from beginning to end.

Sad, sweet but good.

Well, you got me, there. Not expecting that - at all. But thinking about it, how else could it have gone when there was no give on either side, be it her mum and friends, or Spike. Her family and friends could not grasp her depths of despair and Spike had not become a kill-free zone. Buffy, in the end, realised that she had been papering over the cracks. She was just a girl but she was also the Slayer. She could not , ultimately, deal with the dilemma or the chasm. She had fallen into the hole and finally, she embraced her descent and chose not to crawl out of it. Finis. Who is to blame? Everyone. No-one. All are punished. A bleak ending, but for Buffy, the only one.
Great story. Searing, and memorable.

Very interesting. I have to say, not exactly the ending I was expecting, but very well done nonetheless. It was amazing. Slightly depressing but very interesting.

sooo good and so sad but I absolutely loved the whole thing and uh, Buffy always did strike me as the sucidal kinda person if it weren't for the whole slaying thing and freinds and she kinda lost them. but anyways, fantastic story and can't wait for more from you!

I for one, love you for this ending. You captured the emotions beautifully, and I've got to say, this is probably one of the only angsty endings I've truly enjoyed reading. I love the way Buffy was acting, and the way Spike was so.. destroyed by it. Beautiful, beautiful ending to a beautiful, beautiful story.

...Buffy wasn’t a complete idiot, she wasn’t some naïve child. In the back of her mind she had always suspected, maybe even outright known, that ...
You could follow that 'that...' with almost any event in canon Buffy's sad romantic life, couldn't you? You've really captured the essence of the character in this story. Transported her into an extreme personal situation and let her loose... demonstrated her to the fanfic reading world. It's been quite moving to have been along for the ride and I'm hoping you might be inspired to pick this up again and ........ that's why you're a writer, and I'm a reader. I live in hope and dreams... you live to make dreams come to life.
You've kept true to the character's essence throughout. You've never caved in to romantic ideals and you've done the characters, and a very delicate subject justice.
A remarkably moving and honest story. Bravo.

I did not like the way it ended. It was so sad. I kept hoping that Spike would be able to save her. It is kind of fitting that the fact that Buffy's friends interferred and disinvited Spike ended up killing Buffy. Perfect example of their meddling. Even though I like my angst with a happy ending (or atleast no dying), I do want you to know that I loved this story. You wrote it sooo well. I loved all of the emotion that you put into it.

I must say that I am stunned at the ending, very stunned. But this was very well writen and your ending, sad, but beautiful .....

WAIT! Is she dead? We don't know how it ends! Did the sirens get there in time? Did she die and Spike run throught the barrier and turn her? Was Spike scarred from the holy water- and when did that part take place? There are too many unanswered questions, I'm literally really confused right now!
Please- you have to do an epilogue or something, because I don't understand. Please let me know how it ends.. or does it even end here? Let me know, either by an epilogue or here is my email address: lil_red_Renee_robins@hotmail.com Please- drop me a line one way or another. I'd appreciate it.

I don't hate you whatsoever, I think that's a bit juvenile. But i will say that as much as I really liked this fic, I feel like this end was such a cheat and I'm terribly disappointed. I don't think this a "ballsy" choice at all. It completely went against the entire story, that's not ballsy, that's... poor storytelling.

No. I don't hat you, but I hate crying. You made me cry so much. You wanted to move us and you did. Thank you for the story.

This broke my heart, but I realized from the start that it could not have a happy ending. Sometimes things are just too fucked up to fix, you know?
Good story; sad, terribly sad but a good story all the same.

This has been one of my most favourite stories recently & I am sorry it has ended, but great writing, very intense

As the writer, you have to stay true to your idea and your heart of the story. And as a reader of said story, I have to stay true to my reactions to the story. I loved following Buffy gain her strength in herself back with Spike's help. That scene where she simply forgets that she's wearing a sundress is wonderful to me. I loved seeing this.
And I must say that i found this ending to be a cop-out. I felt it went against the character we'd bene following who was changing, not FOR Spike, but for herself, was gaining strength in herself without depending on anyone. I didn't need Buffy to trot off into the sunset with Spike, but the Buffy i was watching grow and change was not the one in this chapter. This Buffy was following a storyline that she had grown out of and I feel mislead now. And it's unfortunate because i found this story so compelling, so well-written, and so true to form. And it feels a bit sad that this ending has ruined all of that.

Well, Damn. I was not expecting that. I am glad you stayed true to your story. I think writers often tell a better story when they do that instead of trying to give people what they want. It was certainly a good read, even thought it ended on a sad note.
Date: 04/08/2006 - 09:46 pm Title: End
What a ballsy ending! While heart-breaking it stayed true to the overall tone of the piece and I commend you for having the conviction to follow it through. The tragedy of this ending also makes the (numerous) moments of life and warmth in the story (e.g. that 'beauty-of-us' thing or pick almost any interaction with Jeremiah) even more poignant by contrast. A thoroughly fascinating character study from beginning to end. Well done!

I absolutely love this story and am sad to see it go. I always knew in the back of my mind it wasn't going to end happy. I loved how Spike showed up to try to stop her and I kind of wish he could have turned her, though I know she would have hated that. I wish he said he loved her before she died - I think he did, but maybe not. Anyway, wonderful job writing it and I hope to see another story from you again in the future.
Date: 04/08/2006 - 09:15 pm Title: End
I DIDNT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED AT THE ENDING...DID SHE DIE OR DID HE TURN HER? IS THIS THE END OF THE STORY OR WILL THERE BE A SEQUEL ?
Date: 04/08/2006 - 08:48 pm Title: End
Well written and the emotions were really intense but man, this was just depressing!
