OMG FIRST OFF YAY!!!! SPIKE WON!!!! SECOND WOW AMYS DEAD. i really hope that buffy doesnt think that spike intentually killed her and that she starts to realize that he cares for her and starts to have feelings for him as well. im so happy that spike won, it would have sucked so bad if he didnt. also i cant believe that what cordy went through no wonder why she hates him so much. i logve this story and am so happy taht u updated. please update again soon i cant wait to read more and see wat happens next. thanx

Author's Response: Buffy is going to be in denial for a while longer, but I think in the end it will make the whole story better because it means she forgives him for a reason, and not just because he started to be nice to her. Thanks for the review!

Awww..I did get the sex scene..They MADE LOVE for the first time!
I was getting a bit worried when Spike was losing to Angelus..but he came through in the end..

What I want to know is...What happened to Amy? Drus overdose...killed? Why oh why did Buffy have to find her?

Such a good chapter! The sex scene definitely was different from the others, and it was a sign of the evolving emotions between Buffy and Spike. Finding out about Cordelia and Angelus' past was a nice touch, and the fight scene was well done. It'll be interesting to see what happens from here between the two sides and who killed Amy. Great job! :)

Yeah, I have to say I get pretty giddy when I see an update to this story. I love how Spike is playing cool with Angelus. Very concerned about a fight (between Spike and Angelus?). Also concerned about what Spike is going to do about Amy. He's got to let her go eventually, right? Rack is gonna be pissed with Spike for taking her. What if he kidnaps Buffy in retaliation? I have a feeling he won't pretend to rape her. :( Loved the update!

And the light grows brighter.... Go PJ! This chapter is so fragile... and it wasn't until I reached the very last sentence I was assured you were going to let this be a step forward... mostly for Spike, but assuredly, that last sentence will have served to give Buffy food for thought as well as comfort.

Spike is starting to understand himself, and Buffy, better. And he's doing that whilst also playing a very dangerous game... a game he still doesn't have all the insight to he needs.

Cordelia's eyes are everywhere, taking in everything.... she worries me. I do hope Buffy gets herself together enough to start being observey-girl herself soon. Now that Dru and Angel have made a move things look likely to hot up fairly rapidly...

Don't ever apologise for the length of time you take to get a chapter written and updated, PJ. If the quality of your output is always as good as this, *innerChrissie nods head vigorously*, then the wait is well worth it.

Yep, I got what you were trying to hit at with the Harmony scene. Disturbing, but it was a nice way to show Buffy what her future would be if she doesn't start fighting. I think she got it ;) Actually, she'd be really dumb not to get it. I guess I'll see in the next chapters.

i finally got over here to catch up this fic pj and i just had to tell you before i continue that this first chapter is amazing. It made me tear up. You pair the flashback with the present day perfectly, both creating suspense and intrigue! I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Hi PJ, I didn't want to start reading a new WIP because I'm reading so many of them right now and I have a busy life, but decided to give this one a try anyway. So far, I'm really liking this. Very dark. I enjoy the flashbacks. It's really horrible what happened to Joyce. I don't think I'd ever get over it if something like that happened to me. Can't blame Buffy for running away. Can't wait to read the rest.

Author's Response: I don't hate Joyce, but I needed a major tragedy that would just void Buffy of feeling. The fic is dark, and continues to be, but if you give it a chance til the latest chapter, you'll see it does have a tiny shining bright side that will come out fully at the end. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a Spuff-fic more then I have enjoyed reading this. Even with the dark tones I was completely wrapped up into this the whole weekend reading it. Sorry I didnt comment at the end of every chapter I just wait till the last posted chapter.
Excellent writing and you have such a firm hold on all the players I'm beyond impressed. I will ret not to beg for more but I know I will fail with that as I'm sitting here waiting for Spike to break into Buffys new room.
