Riley! It's as Buffy would think cheating on him with a women isn't really cheating and he thinks the slaves don't count? Yes he may see it this way. How bigoted. ~ I’m not gonna give up my friends for him when he can’t even be faithful to me! Good decision, Buffy :) I'm glad Buffy discovered that Riley hurt Spike. Now she knows what she has to think of Riley (his "I'm getting better, I'm nice to you").

i really hope she won't react keeping him at a distance... even if for now she can't give, or say, what he needs, being driven away will only hurt him...

I hope this story does not turn into Buffy using Spike to get back at Riley and breaking Spike's heart in the process.

Yup, she used him, and now she knows it. I didn't think she would go through with it - I thought she would flash back on Riley and his consort, and realize that she was treating Spike in the same way.

She does have feelings for him though, she just can't admit it right now. She needs to get stronger, and Spike will help her do just that.

But God, does that mean they won't have sex anymore for a while?? Cause damn, that was hot! I love the depth of their need for each other.

as if there was any doubt befor but riley is a jerk. i understand that not training could weaken buffy but how did riely get so strong and her so weak. lt just seems a little off. could he be draining her power or is he on the drugs that walsh gave him ? anyway i could also just be underestemating the importance of a wok out. if thats the problem she sould start training again. hopefuly with spike. anyway can't wait to see what you came up with. plese update again soon you're doing a great job.

Two things really, really upset me with Buffy in this chapter:

Firstly, there was,
She pulled her mouth away. She knew already that eventually she would give in, as she always did, and he would have his way. But right now she was far too angry and hurt still to submit to such affection.

Why? Riley might be artificially increasing his strength or reducing hers somehow, through some freaky development his sick organisation might have invented... but that should only affect physical power not mental and emotional self determination! Why can't the silly cow (can you tell I'm upset with Buffy here?) think for herself and be true to her beliefs? Or is she so shallow and weak that people like Willow and Xander are actually stronger than she? How the heck did the PtB choose such a weak willed person to be the Slayer?! *Grrrrr*

Second,
She debated for a moment, her bruised, needy heart arguing with her timid, ravaged spirit.

And then she made her decision, and headed back for the stairs…back up to her room.

She had somewhere else to turn, too.

WTF? Is she now using Spike to get back at Riley? Is this a, "You ba***rd, you did it to me and it hurt, now let's see if you like it... and I'll get some comfort from it too 'cause I know Spike adores me!" revenge and comfort shag? Does she realise that by initiating this with Spike she'll probably hurt the vampire more than Rileys beatings ever could? Unless, that is, she's actually seen some sense and is going to walk away from Riley... but that contradicts the first excerpt, doesn't it... that she knows she will eventually give in to Riley.

I'm telling you jl, Buffy is one sick young woman here. I need to lie down. Shouldn't read fic that's going to get me so emotional this early in the morning... no caffeine for me today.

Maybe a less emotionally draining chapter next one, eh? Phew.

Oh how I wish that she didn't crack when Riley was trying to make her feel guilty. Very much looking forward to the Riley-pain. ; )

I'm lovin' this story. As much as I want Riley's imminent death..I can understand...since one of my fic's take quite a bit until Riley's ass is kicked ...and my reviewers let me know it too!
