Nothing at all to worry about. You got this chapter exactly right. The right emotion, the right movement, the right build of tension and not overly descrptive to the point of gagging. you got it all just right and I am so enjoying this story. I really can't wait for more of this.

Wow- that was some ... wow. Sorry, don't quite know how to express here, but there was definetely a sadness around this, even though not much was said. It is interesting to see that Spike... I mean, Will actually liked her. I think that the scene was rough, but that was the point of it- to be rough, calloused, kind of like Buffy, right? I do wonder how this will turn out. Will's right, "we need to talk" is never a great opening line.

I really like this story :-) And I think you did a really good job with this chapter..things happened, it seems, jsut how they needed to and you did a really good job showing Buffy's thoughts at one point, then Spike's...now we just need to know what Buffy's thinking again ;)

Oh I know the feeling... going to work in the dark and returning in the dark. ~ Buffy didn't have it easy. Not when her mother died, not in her job. This kind of work and wear you down. No wonder almost nobody that works there is married (is divorced etc.). ~ Mmm there is a story behind William's story, right? Wonder what happened. I think he was a police officer too. On the street, patrolling. ~ Loved this chapter too :)

Poor Buffy seems to be caught in a rut..Looks like she needs something else in her life other than work. I like Spike's character...he seems to be very passionate about his job.

Looking forward to seeing what happens between BUffy and Spike. : )

Whoa- this fic is really well written and sounds like it will be an amazing read. It leaves lots of questions: Giles, meaning Spike Giles? What is Buffy going to do- she seems so unhappy? Etc. All of which leave the reader wanting more- good job with this. Seriously, this is definitely a really amazing fic. .

This first chapter was extremely powerful.. From the dedication *which pulled at my heart strings big time* to the grittly, moving paragraphs that followed.
I love the idea of this fic...which is truly a trubute to the men and women who selflessly put themselves out there to save people. Some of the real heros..

Sublimely gritty and realistic - great start. In less than 3000 words you created a window into a world peopled by characters (I'm including Darren in here despite his unfortunate demise) that I could really care for. How'd you do that? LOL. More soon. Please 8-)
