I loved the info about the prophecy at the beginning of the chapter, looks like this is shaping up to be much more than just a fight over Spike and Angel's personal issues. I enjoyed the Spike/Buffy interaction. It was thoughtful of Buffy to maker her offer, but I just knew Spike wouldn't accept. Fantastic update! Can't wait to find out what happens next! :D

Author's Response: Remember, Spike had to restart Buffy's heart? Angel knows that an ordinary bum vampire couldn't get an invite into the Summers' home. Therefore, she must be dead. And, he was right, sort of.

terrific story - hope you get a chance to give us a new chapter soon - I really like the history you gave of William/Spike and his family. What a battle he had to fight inorder to survive - and what great love and help he has been given from his sunnydale friends and his wonderful new friend, Mouse.

Interesting new family line that you have given Giles - particularly like your Rachel and love Emma.

Author's Response: Giles was far to interesting to not be used more, and as soon as I read somewhere that Mr. Marsters based "Spike's" accent on Mr. Head's actual speech pattern a plot bunny formed. :)

Gotta hand it to Panya for picking the perfect nickname, "giant rat" pretty much sums up Angel perfectly... lol! Loved the Spike/Dawn interaction, and I enjoyed Buffy's reaction to learning Spike gave Panya a nickname. Can't wait to find out where things go from here. Great chapter!

I think the show picked the skull ring just because it fit the near-Goth thing he had going....just look at how much skull jewelry has been at Hot Topic for years. We can ascribe connotations to it now, but I don't think they were nearly so clever....especially because they hadn't gotten to creating William in Season 5 yet. Ah, well....at least they gave us enough to fuel the imaginations of fic writers!! ;)

Angel's attitude is really worrying me, can't wait to find out what happens when he gets to England.
Dawn was so wonderfully insightful in this chapter, Spike and Buffy are both lucky to have her looking out for them.

I've found online antique stores with that jewelry....also jewelry made from the hair of loved ones, too. My great-grandmother was born in 1869 or 70, and she still knew the practive...my grandmother talked all about it when we saw the hair crafts at the fair. I personally love Victorian jewelry, and the Edwardian period that came after it had lovely items, too.

Ooo, Dawnie's a smart one....I like writing her like that, too.

Angel's getting possessive again?? Uh-oh......Spike's not strong enough to fight him, yet.

*wipes away a tear* That was such a hard flashback to read, it was so powerful... really makes my heart ache for poor little Rachel. That monster has caused Giles's loved ones so much pain should be interesting to see how he reacts to Angel if he actually shows up. Great closing talk between Giles and Spike at the end of the chapter. Wonderful update.

Author's Response: Angel will show up, it's just a matter of time. Even *he* has to eventually realize that the Hellmouth is unprotected. This puts a new spin on the Spike/Angelus hatred, does it not?
