Uh-huh.. saying to Buffy that it was a mistake that she kissed Spike was a mistake itself. Now Buffy is hurt and her telling she should go back to the portal was a thing Spike didn't want to hear or consider. I correct: Spike telling Buffy they only have a past topped the first remark. Congrats Spike, now you did it... Buffy doesn't believe that he loves her. What a situation they are in and on top of it all is the murder case *sigh*.

Whoa~ Riley! I wasn't expecting that one. I love the way Buffy and Spike can go from steamy tension to nearly killing each other and stumbing while misinterpreting each other in just a few minutes. Great update!

And AHHH!! OMFG!! Jeebus, Buffy and Spike are so freakin' stubborn and annoying and miscommunicative!! I mean - you have it down perfect, I'm getting the same wtf I got on the show - like the morning after, in Wrecked, when everything was going so well and then they opened their mouths to talk and BAM! Seriously, talking is le bad. They either need a translator.. or they need at least 24 hrs to process each statement and think things through..

I love that exchange, it's so very them. And I like that even though Spike is angry, he's quick to swallow it and attempt to mend things (his waiting to give her a ride was soooo sweet) and Buffy is her usual pouty self, and I love her even though it's so frustrating.

Also, I think you are handling the big picture thing well.

“Will you just forget about that for one second?” Buffy threw her hands up.

Spike’s jaw tensed. “Will you just remember that for one second?

That exchange is very well done, both technically (pretty symmetry) and literally - and I love how you have Buffy anti-vampires and somehow seperating Spike from the group, and him trying to point out there is no difference. It's like how when Willow went evil they all accepted her back, but when Faith turned evil they always had an issue with her afterwards - Buffy is very hypocritical and it's really coming across here in a way that makes me think about it and wonder who is right.. and I don't really know, I don't know who I want to win the argument, I'm just so interested to see it played out!!

And Riley!!? hehehe Plain!Riley - gawd, how many more awesome character surprises can I expect? I hope there are many!! *closes eyes and prays for Oz* Oooo - how will Riley play into the plot?

Spike must love Buffy still. She'll see.

Woohoo!!! Some lip action which will hopefully lead to more of the other kind of action. I loved their conversation and the little details that you brought to it with the touching.

I just read a review you got earlier where someone said they wished that Buffy would be able to get back to 'her time, and her Spike' - and that kind of tripped me up because I hadn't even thought of that.

I guess it depends how you think about time travel.. I fight the urge to think that 'her Spike' is still waiting for her by the portal, and this is just an alternate dimension Spike where everything is 30 years advanced. I like to believe that the Spike in your story is her Spike so there really is nothing to go back to, seeing as the present is the present and.. I guess its like you said in one chapter.. is she past Buffy or is he future Spike? Neither, they are both Present Thems.. or .. well, you get what I mean.

Then again, it's hard for Buffy to have missed out on all those years of her friend's lives.. and especially Dawn - and now she could go back and show Spike the respect and love he deserves.. but to do that she would have to leave this Spike.. and Willow and Xander and everyone, so that would be sad too.

I dunno.. just blabbering I guess. =)

Swooning aside, the dynamics of using the portal to their advantage are pretty scary. Like Buffy said--who's to know that they won't be gone for another 30yrs if they just pop in for help?
