And Spike is effected a lot too. Maybe therefore he told her her name. Playing a cop *g* oh what a pretense to go to Buffy. She was too silent? *g* Mmmm protective Spike. And Buffy missed him, it was a long week. Guh, that was hot. So hot that William is back now and Spike has retreated. So much to business; I'm glad Buffy can see above that now. They both do and that made Spike (or William) running again. At last they both know now. I hope the next days give them time to think it over and have the faith to act what they feel. Of course, the policeman fantasy is cliché, but there's a -good- reason for it, innit ? Ah, men in uniforms... Mine doesn't have any, but I'm working on it ;-) Who wouldn't like - love - to have a guy like that tell you to put your hands on the wall and keep your legs apart, honestly...
It's not that I don't like fluff, but it's just fluff. Angst makes it so much better, there's something to overcome, something to expect. You need to know what comes next. Sometimes it ends badly (I have two examples in mind, but these were good stories), and still, you promised it wouldn't end badly ! The waiting and wanting is a huge part of the pleasure... which is probably why leave us wanting and waiting everytime ? And proof that it works, we're back everytime, checking everyday, many times a day, if the story is updated. It really is a great story, and I'm so glad you were nominated. You deserve it.

Author's Response: I'm glad you're happy with this chapter, and yes, there was a purpose for the 'authoritive' choice of uniform - but of course they didn't get tht far. Yup, I don't do fluff well, though I can try when it has to happen. I prefer angst myself. I can honestly say I didn't set out with the intention of leaving anyone hanging (though it does please me to see return readers), but when I look at the story as a whole and where I need it to go, this chapter would have been nothing more than a gratuitious smut scene. So, blame the muse... lol... 'bad muse, evil muse, go to your room'.... Thanks for the great review and for the lovely comment on my nomination, I'm blushing now.

great update. im glad they finally got to the point of stepping out of charcter of escort and client. the police officer may be cliche but it is definitly a fantasy of many, many women.

Who cares if it's not the most original, it's all in how you work it. And you worked it great! I'm so unbelievably glad he told her that he couldn't pretend. I think it was important not only for her to hear that, but also for him to admit it outloud.

I am not disappointed whatsoever! I get so frustrated with people who can't handle a little angst. The angst is what makes the reunions, the love, all the more better. Who wants a story where it's easy going from start to finish, it would be boring and predictable. When the characters have to overcome hardships, it's all the more sweeter. I loved this chapter and I loved the ending. It was perfect that he couldn't go on further because he was afraid of getting his heart caught up any further, absolutely perfect. I think this will also show her that she means more to him than just a job and that's what she needs. Simply awesome! Can't wait for more!

The muse however, is the one I must please, lest he take another vacation on me, lol. Oh yes, angst makes the reunion and all else more powerful in the end. Yes, William is much too affected by her to continue torturing himself anymore and it will most certainly make her 'see' things differently. Back to the story, I keep on loving their inner talks, they're hilarious! And of course, the interaction between them as feelings keep up growing and they realize that whatever it is, it's deeper than they ever imagined. Wonderful character development, I just can't wait for the aftermath of William leaving after such a statement.
