Hell yeah, that's how S3 should've gone! Damn, if Spike were there to help Buffy during that time, I'm sure she would've never let the Scoobies take over her life so easily and dictate it to their liking---and she wouldn't have been so adamant about Spike being 'an evil thing,' either. WOW!! I've got about a billion emotions running through me, and the loudest is happiness that Spike told them off. Can't wait for more!

Oh, this is perfect and in fact, cathartic. This reflects my sentiments on the events in question wonderfully well. I remember being absolutely fuming at the time and it's so liberating to read such a well-written piece that gives voice to issues that were never aired.

Again, I can't help but comment on your turn of phrase: "a story that Buffy wanted to read until her eyes closed for good"; only a snippet, but truly beautiful.

I hope you don't mind that I have friended you? I never want to miss another update.

It was SO bloody irritating at the time of Season 3 and this welcome home party, because Buffy sure did get the unfair end of the wedge. This chapter of yours, however, goes a long way to righting that wrong: just to hear Spike's on the mark indignation at her dreadful friends and Mum's reaction to Buffy's reappearance in THEIR lives - well, his last, very articulate, if not explanatory remark to all and sundry, is just perfect. Perfect:
"Just bloody fuck off, the lot of you."

Because what can you say to such selfish, blinkered people? They were acting as if Buffy had spoiled the party of their newfound, adventurous lives long before she now spoiled this particular party that really, she should be grateful for -

He helped her as Anne. He is saving her as Buffy.

An uplifting chapter; please update soon. Thanks.

I've really been enjoying this story. This was a particularly good chapter. I always hated this episode on the show. I like your version so much better.. At least she isn't alone this time and its great to see Spike sticking up for her this way. Great job. Can't wait for the next update!

Really though, this chapter was just so great. I loved it. Ha there was a point where I didn't even know if Buffy actually did call Spike or if she only managed to dial the numbers. Through both me and her for a loop there. Oh this was so good. And I would really just loooove to see when Spike sees Xander. And when he tears into Joyce. When she said that in the episode it killed me, and when I read it again, I just wanted to punch her. But thankfully, we have Spike to Buffy's rescue

I'll always read the updates if I have Internet access.. even if I'm terrible late reading like today.
To (on) the contrary of Buffy's friends that are rejecting Buffy (at last it feels for her this way) Spike is welcome her, giving her the feelings of home. That's more than her friends did. And Buffy likes it.
Love how Spike is there for her.

So glad to see more of this story. I just love it, and the deep emotions of Buffy's POV.

Although I think her friends have a right to be mad about her flight, it's interesting to see how she's reacting to everything.

And I love supportive Spike. He's being very sweet.

The kiss was gorgeous and the emotions expressed are heart-wrenching.
