Here goes...

What I'm fretting about with this story - the speed this relationship is developing. From professional to personal in what appears to be, days. Having feelings of powerful attraction develop, sometimes instantaneously, is pretty commonplace and accepted. Having those feeling transition into verbalisation, with things like, "...baby..." and "...luv..." etc., especially by a highly trained and disciplined professional, just seems to make me think the story lurched and I missed a development chapter somewhere. You know, a dialogue heavy thing btw the two of them, maybe over a bottle or two of wine / Jack Daniels, and loose tongues being what they are, nature being what she is.... get the idea? Or is this relationship thing just me?

Things I really loved about this chapter -
1. The neat links to canon, like, "... death is my art...". Reinforces the characterisation, and help the reader to envisage this Buffy as someone akin to S5/6 Buffy. Strong, yet full of self doubt, and needy.
2. CLUES!!!! Red Herrings or not, I love clues, because I love fic that has a ploy as well as Spuffy, and this is a 'Who Done It' as well as a romance... So, fingerprints, eh? And, who has access to fingerprint info before anyone else, eh? So, who could potentially access the 'suspects' quick and dirty? So, suspects, eh? I count two.... and I'm still investigating....

Still think Spike's a pig.... Oh... he is, isn't he?! (Bad taste English joke)

Author's Response: Hi Chrisse! I kind of see where you're coming from with the relationship, but at the same time I don't. It does seem as if feelings developed quickly, but to me it's just that Spuffy (even though it wasn't like that on the show right away lol) dynamic. The way I look at it is, Spike meets this woman that is incredibly different from most women he knows and not only is he attracted to her physically, but mentally as well. He finds her fascinating, really. I think right now, he sees her as somewhat of a saint and him feeling like he's so much the complete opposite of that, is very much drawn to her. He does realize that it's not professional, but he's Spike who is impulsive and often doesn't think until after an action is done. As far as Buffy, the same thing applies. He's so radically different from her and it attracts her. She is someone that wants to experience life and feels the drive to experience it even more because of her disability and the way she was coddled growing up. Buffy's more simplistic in her desire, and Spike is more complex. The endearments, I look at that as a facet of Spike that just comes out more when he's truly concerned and he truly likes Buffy, so... Am I making sense?
