well, that was a little disappointing. it was a good story and i'm glad spike decided to go back to her, but we didn't get a spuffy ending. i was hoping we would have seen them get together or something. i figured that buffy would have went after him, i didn't think he would have left town and it was going to be a few months later. i guess i was expecting more. a sequel would be nice, there's a lot more that could be done with it.

Author's Response: You are extremely right, there is a lot more to be done with it, and as soon as I can think of the other half of plot I already have for a sequel, I'll get working on it. I already have the beginning started. I'm sorry this disappointed you, though. I thought there was some positive spuffy in the fact that he went off looking not to get the chip out of his head, but to find the one thing that would protect Buffy against a magical threat. Thank you for reading anyway.

Spike's observation that Giles' support means he sees through the ruse was very perceptive. The inadvertent break up was heartfelt and heart wrenching. I love that the catalyst was Riley's flirting attention, and Buffy's reaction to the ended engagement is going to have her even more confused. This chapter flowed beautifully. I'm looking forward to more.

GREAT chapter- loved reading the Spuffy anguish, Spike's feelings were so true to form. Plus, the ending was beautifully sad.
I hope we don't have to wait long for the epilouge!

Author's Response: Oh thank you! *tackle hug* Half way through writing this story it really occurred to me that to write them in canon, to make this whole thing believable, it couldn't have a happy ending. And as much as it goes against the grain, I truly didn't want some over-the-top, sappy formula finish for this story. I'm so glad you trusted in it to keep going. I will absolutely have the epi up tomorrow. I can't tell you how much it means that you enjoyed the fic and that you commented throughout.

Author's Response: The ending will be what you make of it, and as with all spuffy fic...sometimes the end isn't the end. I have had sequel thoughts. (Ssh, I didn't say that too loud did I?) Don't despair. I've never written a completely disasterous ending for our spuffy couple before.

Oh dear, it's all gone a bit topsy-turvey, but in a completely true-to-character manner. Spike has never been able to handle rejection, and his crueler side is a manifestation of his hurt. It's beautiful, and incredibly well-written.
I can't wait to see how they ressolve this.
