Author's Response: I know and I'm sorry about that. I used to write much longer chapters in my stories and paired up Spike and Buffy quicker. I promise Spike will be in the next chapter and we will learn much more about him. spufette

LOL! My friends and I swear that Sunnydale is actually Santa Cruz, CA. It's another weird little town an hour south of San Francisco. One of the writers went to school there and actually put in references to Kresge and Stevenson colleges at UCSC. Now there can be a California city debate! Keep up the great work!

Author's Response: Now, funny you should mention Santa Cruz. First off, I love that area of California. I get away up there as much as possible. I think SC should have gotten the title of Surf City, not Huntington Beach. The waves are definitely betterin Santa Cruz and I just like the laid back attitude there more then HB. Okay, now...I always felt that it was Santa Cruz that the town of Santa Carla (!) was based on in Lost Boys. I never got this as a fact, but I think that Joss based alot of BTVS on Lost Boys. Look at Keifer's character and yes, Alex Winter's character in the story. Spike's personality could have been cloned from them. There were 'Slayers' aplenty in the movie also. Jamie's character is almost possessed when it comes to protecting her younger charge and the wonderful (albeit messed up) Jason Patric's character is a somewhat hybrid vamp/human. Remind you of anyone? Anyway, thank you. I'm trying to finish Redemption, it was so near my heart and I feel the need to complete it now. I'll update ASAP. spuf

It's good to know Buffy and Dawn's get-away is going smoothly. Loved the tavern scene, it was fun getting a glimpse of Spike's life in England. I appreciated the backstory of the places Buffy and Dawn are visiting, Duarte sure sounds like an interesting place... lol! Fantastic chapter!

So far i'm liking Buffy's plan. I hope all goes well for her and Dawn, when Ethan finds out there's bound to be plenty of trouble. Dawn's backstory was so sad and yet very intriguing. Loved the Buffy/Dawn bonding. Fantastic chapter!
