Spike is torn (what do to) but he gave in. At last he was able to confess to himself that he wanted it too even if he denying that he's William (like Buffy saw in him).
Two people that were hurt finding comfort... but I wonder what they'll do next (even if I know a little about it from the begin of the story).
(Buffy going to a shelter wasn't the first thought I had either when I remember correctly and no time to check. Even if I know about them and so should Buffy it wasn't the first thought I had. Only if someone pointed it out to her and she doesn't have friends that could do that.) Thanks for the update :)

So it's a broken Buffy we see here. Circumstances *cough especially Liam* can do that.
I'm glad Spike isn't taking drugs (especially when he doesn't want to feel). But Drusilla is? That can't end well for her. With her friends taking drugs too she is on a bad path.
So did it happen; Buffy was devastated enough to contact Spike again. How did she call it? Because she needs an escape. After seeing the last scene with Liam? She rather needs to escape from him. I know, she thinks she doesn't have a chance.
I wonder how long it will take Liam to notice; and if he will go after Buffy then because she is his possession. I guess he will.

You're writing their connection wonderfully. Spike is angry and blaming Buffy for his feelings, and Buffy is resigned and blaming herself. She shouldn't be with Liam, but that's a decision she's not willing to make. Are she and Will officially having an affair? I can't imagine Will angrily leaving her in that terrible, scary marriage...

It's made often enough when a woman has kids, but that's not Buffy......

What more could she possibly want to stay for than fear? She's afraid of being broke, afraid of being alone, afraid he might retaliate (though I doubt he'd mind letting her go so he can pick up the next fool) - but still....what's going to make Buffy realize that there's more to life than living in fear? Using William? She won't even tell him the truth......

And William should really just screw the whole lot of them and move on with his life. He has a sharp mind and is young enough to have endless potential. And he should seize it.

Author's Response: Yes, I know this--which I just said in my note. But that isn't this story. If i did that, there wouldn't be a story. This is fiction.

Just because you know you shouldn't doesn't mean you won't do it anyway. Those two connect unlike they do with their actual significant others and however disatrous it is, they do have a certain degree of shared honesty, reluctant though it be,. An amazing chapter. I look forward to 2 o'clock tomorrow. :)

Either William will kill Liam for hitting Buffy, or Liam will kill William and Buffy for having an affair...Exellent, tense chapter here.
