He's brave and foolhardy at the same time, but it's almost like he's spent forever treading water and not going anywhere with anyone - and along comes Buffy. He's passionate and forthright and she's young and shy. Great combination. Will he lead and she follow, or is it the other way round? Great chapter.

Spike's such a little boy :) I'm really dreading when Hank sweeps into their lives; hopefully they'll have built up something he can't break before that. Oh, and can you write my into your script so I can kick Hank's ass? Just a thought... lol

Nah, sorry, I wasn't fooled, but I am a bit surprised about something... I think Spike over-reacted just a tad. I don't mean when he was worried Hank had found Buffy, I mean after the fact, when he knew Buffy was safe. Like how he thought that she wasn't caring about his feelings by not leaving a note. She still had two hours before he was due home, why would she think she needed to leave a note? I am glad that Spike is slowly starting to admit his feelings about her, and to her. Bravo. Overall, really good chapter. =)

Author's Response: Yeah, he did over-react, but I think he knew that. I think we can both agree that Spike doesn't have the best handle on his emotions and while reason would dictate that she had just made a mistake, his overactive emotions and tendency to jump the gun would make him more prone to totally-blown-out-of-proportion behavior. Not that that is a very good excuse for acting like an ass. Thanks for your review, gypsy-jin...you smartie, you. ; - )

Okay, still really loving this story. One thing though -- I believe the age of consent in Nevada is sixteen for girls, so in Las Vegas she wouldn't be underage. In Calif she would be. I suppose it is possible to make a case that he lured an underage girl out of state for sexual purposes and it therefore be considered a crime committed in Calif (where he lured her from -- that would be the assumption, whether true or not, for that kind of charge to be made, if it could be made), whereas if they had just met while both living in Nevada there would be no problem. Other than that quibble, I like where you've gone with the story and anxiously look forward to Buffy's answer. Thanks! :-)

Author's Response: You are correct that the legal age of consent in Nevada is 16 for both sexes and legally, Spike probably wouldn't be charged with anything if he were to be arrested. However, that being said, for the purposes of this fic you have to remember that Buffy's father could almost certainly push for a stiff penalty with his connections...not gonna go any further into than that. And you know, May-December relationships are still very taboo especially in regards to a teenage girl and an older man, so it is quite conceivable that it would cause problems even though it wasn't illegal.
