this is sad, but i have to say buffy is being really stupid. she would be better off with him, not out there somewhere by herself. how can she even think that he doesn't love her? angelus has really screwed up her head. i was hoping that she wouldn't leave, or that spike would stop her. i hope it wouldn't be too long before he finds her again.

Excellent job explaining Buffy's motivation for leaving and keeping her sympathetic. How is Spike going to be able to be able to change this mindset: "His inherent evil couldn’t remain dormant for long; once it showed its face, what little was left of her would be completely crushed..."? Buffy's so steadfast in her convictions that being with Spike will destroy her, how can that be changed?

I was delighted with the note and cash. This story is full of surprises.

I've probably said this too many times to count to so many countless people, but if you don't hurry up and update, I'm going to bite my pants off, and Spike's, and then we're BOTH going to disappear, and then you'll be stuck without a main character, and that's not such a good idea eh? SO HURRY UP!! love your story

Stupid girl! God, just communicate with people, Buffy! You think you have all the answers at 17 and still a child? Spike won't let you go....you can leave for the day, but he won't stop coming for you. He's not built that way.

She's such a coward....she could talk to her mom, tell her friends how it went, everything......but she just runs and runs.....and running NEVER solved anything! Ugh, this is why children shouldn't try to play at being adults and having relationships...cuz they make everything a friggin' drama production. They're not mature enough to play in an adult world.

The sacrafices she's willing to make for the right reasons. Never quite as black and white as she wants it though. I wonder what he'll do when he wakens without her. Great, sad chapter.

Not quite the languorous morning after the night before's raging passion and claiming, with Buffy quite sick at heart from yesterday's events and for now what she sees as her subsequent 'using' of Spike as an emotional and physical buffer.

Such heart-rending self-castigation is merely made worse when the 'used' vampire tenderly approaches her in the shower and proceeds to be perfect in every way. And yet his loving touch, his comfort and understanding just emphasize the mess that Buffy feels she is in - her mother has disowned her whilst a soulless vampire effortlessly cares for her wellbeing; her boyfriend is killed by her own hand and she ends the day by making love and claiming and being claimed by a demon. Another demon.

Her self-hate is now complete. All aspiration and innocence swirl down the sink with the Angel dust. But still she needs one last kiss, one last -

An interesting turn, here. Not expected, this moribund and still desolate young girl. Yes, she ran as expected; but her running from Spike was not quite so obvious. Will it, if it happens, be a surprise for him, also?
