Great, soul-wrenching story. Poor Spike. I really hope whoever did this gets what he deserves. (I'm still fluctuating between Riley and Xander...because Riley's the easy guess, but Xander would blame Spike for Buffy and Anya...)

This is a really good story, I thought Xander got jeleous over Anya and probably Buffy, but it looks like Riley got jeleous. Look foward to finding out who.

Anya is on the right track... she noticed the gun wound and that this is nothing someone would do to kill a vampire. It's perfect for torturing him though. And she got the thing right about vengeance (it was her job after all *g*) and about the human part.
But they didn't see yet that it is linked to Buffy, too far away to think about that. And right now Buffy isn't mad that Anya is a demon again. Just a thought, I wonder if it stays this way. Maybe yes because it is helpful and as long no innocent people are harmed, things will go well.

Excellent chapter!!! The gentle way Buffy talked to Spike, the distress she felt when she knew that when she touched him to help him it was still causing him pain, the emotional pain she felt over his fear of being punished, all these tell me that she really does love him.

I really liked that Anya understood almost at once that it had to be a human that hurt Spike. The risk she took with telling her she was a demon again so that she could help Spike and Buffy was couragous.

The ominous feel that comes to my mind when Buffy said "Good" was chilling.
