Author's Response: "You're killing me Smalls!" Sorry, little Sandlots there. Can you believe that at first I only pinned the party for one chapter? It was one big, ginormous ride that never ended and climaxed several times... didn't work very well. This way, we have the suspense and the killing of readers and the total lack of Spuffiness that becomes Spuffiness that really shouldn't be Spuffiness, but then you're thinking "Hey, that's Spuffiness!" and wondering what it means for the Spuffiness because, well, who doesn't want Spuffiness? And sheesh! I just realized I'm not feeling horrible bad for BUFFY! You are good. It just snuck up on me. First I was al GO Spike!! Now I'm all... awwwww, Buffy! When did that happen? Sneaky devil.

Author's Response: Hahaha, funnest chapter I've written, actually. I had a blast writing the "moment" before Spike's blowout. It was really fun, especially paradoxing "needless hope" with the scenery, which just came to me like a vision. As for fixing it... it's a sssssecret. But I've known where I've wanted to go with this since the beginning... at least the part where things go bad (if you thought it was black now...), then fall apart, and finally stop breathing. Then it gets put on life support, bleeds and heals a little, but is inevitably seared again. Yay for vagueness! So I guess you could say I'm nowhere finished telling my story. We haven't even gotten to the smut or breaking stereotypes or making flat characters (Cordy, Riley, Davis, etc.) dynamic or fixing Buffy's life. First of many epiphanies from Spike, too. And yay for feeling sympathy for Buffy. I'm diggin her out of the hole I put her in, trying to make her an appealing heroine. And the homework... *cries* the homework must be done. *weeps in corner*

yes I enjoyed that but I think Spike is really mixed up & doesn't know who he is, trying to be the Big Bad but remnants of his old life are still there, but he is trying to repress
Author's Response: Spike's overly confused, that's for sure. We must have hope in the Spuffy by believing that. I don't think he was trying to be the "Big Bad" in this case; he was just trying to protect himself. He doesn't want to need Buffy, and he thinks his emotions went haywire. Author's Response: Just one tear; she was caught in the moment. And it isn't so much of Spike as it is the idea of Spike. I believe I touched up on that with: "Attending college, having a decent home, a life expiration date that leaped past graduation. A good job. A family. A person who cared for her. Author's Response: Yeah, I was thinking about Buffy getting up and just leaving Spike alone on the roof. But that would have been too symbolic, it would have suggested that she was her own person and didn't need/want Spike. And, for this scene anyway, Buffy is totally dependent and interested in Spike.
