May be it is time for Spike to be a little hurt and angry for Buffy does not see how she lead a part in his demide in becoming Spike I mean is it fair of her to reget him in the being he now is from the man she played a part in, in his becoing? My friend and I have been following this story and were discussing it and debating angles on it oday over lunch and it made for such a fun topic.
In his way Willaim dd transcend death to be with her and may be somewhere down the road she will see that his love for her never faded.
I am sure you get tons of compliments but this is the best work of the realm.
Author's Response: The best work on the realm? What a wonderful and flattering thing to read. Thank you! I hope I can continue to live up to your expectations in the future.

Her struggle is almost tangible; her desperation and subsequent rage is at last out in the open. I hate myself, I hate this, I want to go back, to then, to anonimity, to caring: to love. A spell and a fateful coincidence gave Buffy everything she missed in her modern-day existence. The feel of him now, so like then. The look in his eyes, his response and even now, his clumsiness at expression that shatters the pretense:
"All the things I did."
but in her dream she remembers him once saying:
"love can transcend death."
A chapter of intensity: the intimacy of lovers, the cold slap of reality, the cold words of Giles, now privy to her secret. But for all this, the situation is beginning to open up. There can be no more misunderstanding or denials; from now on, things will have to happen, either good or bad. She may sleep and dream but when she opens her eyes ....... well, she's really going to have to finally see .......
Fantastic.
Author's Response: I just love your reviews. You put so much thought into them and into telling me what you liked about each specific chapter. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. :-D

Buffy making love to William in her mind even as she's lulling Spike into believing she sees him made my heart hurt for the both of them. When she came back to herself, really seeing Spike, you can feel her emotional retreat.
The confrontation with Tara and then Giles was also heart breaking. Buffy's so filled with pain she's not being rational. I loved this: “Your problems will still be here tomorrow morning, Buffy. You have a destiny as surely as Spike—as surely as the rest of us. You can’t escape that just because you feel it is an unfair one." Giles is right, but what will it take for Buffy to realize it?
The dream was certainly a step in the right direction. William's bloody knuckles and his final line show a melding of William and Spike in Buffy's subconscious. I'm looking forward to how this affects her waking life.
Thank you for another sharp, emotional chapter here.
Author's Response: Thank you so much. Your reviews are always such a pleasure to read, because you really delve into what spoke to you in each chapter. I hope I can continue to stir your emotions in the future. :-D

Oh God Giles found Buffy's picture of Spike on her pillow in her room! Id be mad too. The Scoobies moving into her house then Willowing spending her mothers money, Giles thinking he can invade her personal space and Willow doing a spell to throw her in another place? Gee I don' know why she won't talk to you all and want to go back to a place where she felt she could just be and have someone else look after her. I read this and thought these restrictions Giles talks about on women in that time era would they be so bad for Buffy. It be the first time in years she was not responsible for the world and her friends safety and someone would look after and care for her. Imagine the culture shock for her to have someone like William put her each and every happiness and need above everything else. Yeah Giles and Tara she is such a selfish person to want to throw aside being a hero and a selfish lil fool. Ok my rant aside I LOVED the Spike parts and the ending of this made me tear up please continue to write this it is just too epic!
Author's Response: I'm so glad the last section of the chapter resonated with you. It was actually a cut scene from Chapter Sixteen. That chapter ran long, so I removed it and always felt bad that I did. When I was thinking of an appropriate memory to end the chapter with, I went back and reread it and it just seemed perfect. Thank you so much for the review. :-D

Giles is showing all the signs of the disappointed father figure. With the show I sometimes hated the fact he never went the extra mile in trying to understand her relationship with Spike instead he just wrote him off as evil and nothing else. You played Tara really well as the understanding and caring person that she was and with Tara Buffy was able to break down a little bit before Giles came in with his "Your a Slayer get over it authority" and I really liked the flashback part it makes me believe more and more that Buffy and Spike and William and Elizabeth have their own Powers that Be destiny and a reason for their connection. Maybe in the big picture Giles and the hang are going to have to face the idea that maybe Spike is Buffy's future.
Author's Response: I always liked Tara as a character, because she was rarely judgmental, and I think if Buffy were going to break down in front of anyone, it would probably be her. I'm glad you think I did her justice in this chapter. Thank you. :-D

I loved the fact he grabbed here and didnt want to let her go and kissed her and kept tellig her he loved her. He does cherish her and they both want what they had I am a fool for love stories and I want then to get it.
:D
Author's Response: I'm a fool for love stories too, so I'm very happy that you're enjoying the one I'm writing. As always, I really appreciate your taking the time to leave a review. Thank you!

Even in death all he could think of was her and his love for her she has to see that! Come on Buffy let yourself give him a chance even a small one and see who he has become. Not the Spike you knew but the mix of both men and see if you dont find love. Please more it is so good I hate to see the chap. end. :)
Author's Response: Don't worry - she can't deny the truth forever. And we all know that as much as he's hurting, Spike is also stubborn enough to wait until she is ready. Thanks so much for the review.

The more I read this the more I think Buffy is his destiny and it was suppose to happen her going back in time to love him. Even her time with him in these flashbacks we now see and all the story of this we have read it's like William and Elizabeth/Buffy are connected and that their time together always has a sort of foreshadowing to it for future events. Even if I did not follow the BtvS universe or never save the show this story alone makes you fall in love with their storyline.
Giles is in sort of the dark only going with the facts he knows on Spike being a killer. I think it would go along way for Buffy if she would open up a little with Giles. I see she is angry with the world. Angry with her friends for what happened and then angry with her friends for taking a happiness she never thought she could have away. I see why she just brushes things off because she's mad at all she has lost. I mean she runs home and begs Tara to be returned and you cannot blame her cause in the past she found true happiness and a romance and a normal life.
Beautiful story telling here.
Author's Response: Oh, I am so glad that you said that about Buffy's character. I was hoping that my readers would feel that way when they read the chapter. Thank you for letting me know that you do. :)

This has to be the best fic I've ever read. I cant get enough of it, it's so perfect!
I really hope that Buffy recognises what her own subconcious is telling her- that love really can transcend death. I feel so sorry for her. I sort of understand where she's coming from- I guess it's almost like she's afraid that she's betraying William by being with Spike. She just needs to connect them both.
Cant wait for another part; it's a stunning piece of work.
Author's Response: To call it a "stunning piece of work" and "the best fic you've ever read" is just so incredibly flattering for me. Thank you very much for making my day better with your kind review. :)

“You’re all I think about,” he whispered now. Dilated eyes searching her own, ragged rise and fall of his chest; his voice trembling a bit as he added, “A hundred bloody years…over a hundred…with all the things I did…and you were all I could think about.”
I loved this part just loved it!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I loved writing the Spike section. He is such a feeling character; it is just a joy to get to explore that. :)

Giles has figured it out just not in all the personal/relationship ways. And Buffy seems to sort of feel now like being with Spike she betrayed William or at least that was my interpretation of it. I think Tara was better then Willow would be at this Buffy scene because she would be sympathetic and a more understanding sort.
Author's Response: Your interpretation is spot on. Buffy does feel as if she has betrayed William. But her denial of Spike's true character can't last forever. Thank you so much for the review. :-D

I had to wait all day to run home and read this and it was worth the 8 hour wait. More please I am FTTP dying here.
Author's Response: Don't die yet - we have a long way to go before we're done. ;-) Thanks for the review!

I wonder if Buffy still pretended to have William there with her. God that Spike couldn't (can't) read Buffy's thoughts. But he noticed now after all *sigh (with Buffy running away).
Buffy didn't like what Giles that; I can understand her. But Giles is right about domino effect it would have.
Loved the Buffy/William dream. And this: The idea that love can transcend death. It should get Buffy thinking; I hope it will. And that she dreamed it... maybe her subconscious mind has already seen what she has to do.
Enjoyed the update :)
Author's Response: Thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-D

She makes him so venerable she has to see when she is with him he is William. Can't she see his love for her is her William still inside him?
I do see why she runs and her wanting so desperating to go back to the time she was in. BUt then no woman thinks clearly when shes that in love.
Author's Response: Don't worry - she can't deny it forever. I think that the hardest thing for her to admit is that her William became a murderer once she left. Once she comes to term with that, both she and Spike will be much better off. As always, thank you very much for reviewing. :-D

Aww I almost cried at this part
"His voice had a raw edge to it, and his accent sounded odd. Certainly not like William, yet not exactly like Spike, either. He was clutching at her, stroking and kissing; and this time, she didn’t have to ask him to tell her he loved her. He whispered it ceaselessly, desperately, a thousand different ways. He might have called her Elizabeth"
They are both sort of lost in the moment him with wanting her for over a 100 years and she trying to see him as the man he was.
I think I've read this 4 times this morning and I'll probably read it 4 more times by this afternoon.
It's bloody fantastic.
Author's Response: The part you almost cried over was the part I like best - so I'm glad it spoke to you in that way. As always, I greatly appreciate your taking the time to review! :-D
