I have to applaud you on this how you wrote the whole part of Spike in this for you captured him perfectly. I too wanted to cry right along with him this story is just breathtakingly written.

A burst of hysterical laughter escaped his lips at the irony of that. The stupidity of him, to think he could be worthy of her, to think that she had loved him. To think that she could love him.
To think that he knew her at all.
He dropped his head into his broken hands and began to sob.


This broke my heart in all the right places and I have never seen Spike written this well before you have captured him to a T!

I so want to slap all of them. They are such morons. You'd think that someone would have a brain but no. I love your writing it has gotten me quite angry at the characters and that is the mark of a good author and story. I can't wait to see where Spike especially goes from here. Author's Response: Yep, emotion from the readers is always a compliment to the author. And I don't blame you for wanting to slap the Scoobies ... I wanted to slap them almost constantly during season six. It's just a normal reaction to them, I think. lol. Thanks for the review! :)

This was so well written in both Spikes emotional and lashing out reaction and then falling down and sobbing of all he has lived through with knowing Elizabeth and then to Buffy. I'm hoping given time Spike will see he did his own part in bringing Buffy into his own life with his first seeing her and for some unknown reason knowing he had to help her. William went out of his way to save Elizabeth and make her a part of his close knit family. He wanted to shelter and care for her. Even if he did not know who or what she was or who he would become he as a man wanted her.
And then we go into Buffy and her just being sort of emotionally frozen from the loss of the life she had and happiness she had with William. I mean if you think about it her life with William was the first real shot at happiness she had. She didn't mean to love him an she knew who he would become but she loved him despite this. She didn't know if she had days or years or just moments and she feel in love with him just as he fell for her.
Ok I have to get back to my breakfast now for I'm discussing them like they are real people in my own Spuffy-opera. Perfectly perfect this chapter was in every part.

Poor poor poor Spike/William if he now thinks even his life and time with Elizabeth was a betrayal. I would cry too, it was the one part of his existence in his life that was effulgent to him. But things always have to be at the worst if they ever hope to get better so I am hoping for him.

They made a deal of a sacrifice - Oh Lord...

Yeah, calling Angel, when Buffy nearly escaped, barely, Angelus in London just weeks ago to her.

I hope Buffy pulls up her Slayer bootstraps and takes control of this situation pronto, before it gets out of hand from those meddlers. Giles is being especially dim for how much he's supposed to know as a Watcher about magic and dimensions, etc. Stop trusting Willow to do all the magic!!!

Spike's reeling, since his whole past has been turned upside down now that he knows Buffy was Elizabeth. He doesn't know what was real, what wasn't, what he should do now, who he should trust...........as if his insecurities weren't big enough by this point in canon. And with Glory gone, he doesn't even get to prove himself by saving Dawn.

I hope you won't delay Buffy and Spike's first confrontation. There are things she needs to say, and thingshe needs to hear. And God, I hope Buffy knows Spike and William are basically the same guy. The similarities kept getting thrown at her, so I pray she won't be stupid and fall back on that Council line of "You're not him". I think that might shatter Spike at this point if she insists on denying him. But I think she's become enough of a grown up to be past that.....I hope.

Author's Response: Yeah, one of Spike's biggest obstacles to overcome in this story is that he hasn't had a chance to show them he can/has/will change. He's been good to Dawn (in Forever), but he made her promise not to tell anyone. So, as far as the rest of them know, he's the exact same person he was when he tied Buffy up and threatened to let Dru kill her. Thanks for the review. :-)

Author's Response: Loneliness is said to be the human condition, and that always seemed especially true for Spike - even after he ceased to be one. Hopefully, things can improve for him in this story ... but I'm not saying how, when, where, or with whom. Thanks for the review. :-D

You made me ache for Spike in this, too. At first I thought he was going to feel remorse when he remembered he'd been trying to kill her, but for him to think she had been toying with him all along... not understanding that to Buffy, William shared some outward features with Spike, and that's all. Buffy's bought the Council line; she's had to, both in her Slaying and in the past.

And then there's the quandry of whether she would have loved William if she really had believed he was Spike... ouch.

I wasn't expecting any sort of immediate rapprochement, but it's all even more tangled and complicated than I'd guessed.

Awww she had a William hicky on her neck. Buffy is shell shocked if I were her I'd be at a complete loss too with everone wanting answers and coming face to face with Spike and losing William all at once and who knows what wiggy things happen to the body in time travel I think they are lucky the girl is even standing. Everyone is in a gard place right now it seems.

Oh this just keeps getting better and better. Buffy has gone into a mild form of shock, more or less, Spike is pissed and rather heartbroken (something tells me that Angel's arrival wont help his feelings of betrayel and everything else), no one really knows what to do for buffy or what she has even been through or where. Have I mentioned that I love this story and that it deserves every award that it has won or been nominated for?
