Hi. Good chapter, and I'm still waiting for more. Although I don't think that in the TV show version of Spike/Angelus relationship Spike really got a chance to play the role of the Alpha male, still, in your story it's good.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review. :) To address a couple of your comments, on AtS, Spike did beat Angel in a fight for the Shanshu ("Destiny"). He also was completely kicking Angelus' butt in BtVS's "Becoming Part II" until Dru pulled him off. That being said, however, I don't think Spike was being an "Alpha Male" in this chapter. He won due to his opportunistic nature, not because he was in any way stronger than Angelus. But he saw the broken chair leg and used it as a stake to wound his grandsire. They lost the stake and while Angelus went to retrieve it, Spike used the opportunity to pin him down. Like his defeat of the Chinese Slayer, Spike's win over Angelus was due partly to luck and partly to his innate cunning ... not because he is necessarily the physically stronger of the two. And just because he won this battle it does not mean he will win another.

Oh that was good, he totally played it over on Angelus and Darla in the end. I wonder how long it will take the rest to find them, will he kill this Slayer I know on the show he only killed two but we can try can't we.

Oh yeah, Spike has grown up so to say. He knows to defend what he wants (defend himself, holding his stance?). This time Angel had a lesson to learn. But did he? Not sure... and he knows where Spike is now.

Tumultuous chapter for the Aurelian males. The way you are fleshing out the years of the Fanged Four beyond canon, is nothing short of brilliant. You keep completely in character with all of them, and your William has now most creditably become Spike. It has almost been like the survival of the fittest; he has had to stifle William under a huge blanket of cunning and violence and instant gratification, in order to move from day to day. The rewards of this persona far outweigh the trials that he suffered as William, even as a vampire. The fledgling receded with William. The vampire emerges, as Spike.

Bravo.

whenever i see those blue eyes underneath the title of your story in the recently updated stories i get all gitty. Yay!!! I wonder why Angelus made that wager...i mean did he do for himself to show that he had the power in the family? Maybe he's just a bit taken back that Dru is following Spike everywhere now and if he kills a slayer before Spike it will put things back to the way they were. So Angelus follow them around? How much farther till we see this gypsy curse too? Hopefully will be getting the the Boxer Rebellion soon.

It made me so sad when Spike was thinking of Elizabeth and the life he hoped to share with her. Spike/William strikes me as the time that desperately longs for something, even when they actually have it. Ahhh, the passionate soul. I am curious what the next hundred years will do to this longing that he still can't get rid of. He will have to at least put it on the back burner to be able to cope, though the thought makes me sad.

Also, I have been curious since Buffy went back - How exactly the reunion will go. He will know her long before she remembers her time travel. Will Spike have to wait around for years till "his Elizabeth" comes back? :(

Thanks for the fabulous story and the detailed plotline. Can't wait for the next chapter

I -really- enjoyed Spike meeting his first slayer. The way you described the exchange had a poetic vibe to it....and it went so well with the tone of the story and Spike's personality as well.

And Angelus is back (rubs hands together with glee). Can I just say how happy I am to hear that?
